By Solthaus is a modern Australian fine fragrance house creating ingredient-aware parfum in considered small batches. Crafted in Melbourne, each fragrance reflects a thoughtful approach to formulation and materials. We create fragrance for those drawn to beauty and substance in equal measure. Those who want more from a fragrance than just how it smells – how it's formulated, how it evolves on skin, how it earns a place day after day.
A note from Mel
Design has shaped my world for many years, and fragrance felt like a natural extension of that. Both are invisible forces that quietly define how we experience a space, a mood, or a memory. I’ve always been drawn to the way scent can turn the intangible into something you can experience and carry with you.
I created By Solthaus after experiencing sensitivity to traditional fragrance formulas, alongside a fascination with the way fragrance can capture something of the natural world and make it deeply personal.
By Solthaus grew from that idea – a fragrance house built on standards we won't bend, with scents designed to fold into the rhythm of your everyday.

Our philosophy
Soft on skin, strong on standards.
We create fine fragrance with skin, senses and sourcing in mind. Our natural origin-led philosophy brings together a certified organic sugarcane base, carefully chosen ingredients and quiet precision. Each scent is refined, wearable and beautifully balanced.
Why we don't say "clean"
You'll notice we don't use the word "clean." It means something different to everyone, and there is no single regulated definition of “clean” in beauty. Used loosely, it can make every brand start to sound the same.
We formulate without parabens, phthalates or synthetic dyes – not because those exclusions alone make a fragrance good, but because they form part of the standard we set for every composition.
Our approach is defined by more than what we leave out. Every ingredient – essential oil, natural isolate or nature-identical material – is chosen for a reason, and we’re glad to tell you why. We'd rather build your trust through transparency than print it on a label.
By Solthaus is my way of creating fragrances that feel as beautiful on the skin as they do within. I can't wait for you to experience them.
Thoughtfully balanced
We value natural ingredients for the beauty and complexity they bring to fragrance. But natural doesn’t automatically mean safer or more sustainable. Some botanical materials can be environmentally vulnerable, difficult to source responsibly or less stable in a formulation. In these cases, we may choose nature-identical alternatives which are lab-crafted molecules designed to mirror those found in nature.
